Frequently asked questions
ordering and freshness
How fresh is your coffee?
Every order is roasted to order in Kansas City. We roast and ship within 3 to 4 days of when you place your order, so your coffee isn’t sitting on a shelf.
Do you sell whole bean or ground coffee?
Whole bean only. If you’re not sure what grind you need, our Brewing Guides list the right grind for each brew method.
What sizes do you offer?
Our coffees come in 12 oz., 32 oz. and our blends in 5-lb. bags. Available sizes are shown on each product page.
What’s the difference between your single origins and your blends?
A single origin comes from one country or region, so it shows off that place’s flavor, like the Costa Rica Honey Process with its nectarine and chocolate notes. A blend combines several coffees to create a balanced, consistent cup, such as our House Blend or Espresso Blend.
Are any of your coffees organic?
Yes. Our Colombia Organic and Honduras Organic are certified organic.
Do you offer decaf?
Not at the moment.

where do you ship?
We ship to addresses in the continental United States only.

Your order is roasted and shipped within 2 to 4 days. We ship with USPS Ground Advantage, and the Postal Service can take up to 2-5 days to deliver, depending on where you live. You can find more on our Shipping and Delivery page.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on the weight and size of your package—free shipping on all orders over $50.00.
What if my order arrives damaged or is wrong?
Contact us within 7 days of delivery and we’ll replace it or refund you. See our Returns and Refunds page for details.
storing and enjoying your coffee
How should I store my coffee?
Keep it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, away from the stove or sunlight. Don’t store it in the refrigerator or freezer, because moisture and food smells can spoil the flavor.
How long does coffee stay fresh?
Coffee tastes best within about a month of roasting. After that it’s still safe to drink, but it slowly loses flavor. Whole beans stay fresh longer than ground coffee.
What grind should I use?
It depends on how you brew. As a rule: coarse for French press and cold brew, medium for drip machines, medium-fine for pour-over and AeroPress, and fine-medium for a moka pot. Our Brewing Guides give you steps for each.
How much coffee should I use?
For drip coffee, a good starting point is 1 gram of coffee for every 15 grams of water, which works out to about 2 tablespoons of coffee for 6 ounces of water. Adjust it up or down to taste.
Which coffee should I choose for my brewing method?
Each guide on our Brewing Guides page lists our best coffees for that method. If you’re still unsure, contact us and we’ll help you choose.
